St Marks Catholic School - Academics

Academics

The curriculum follows the guidelines mandated by the New York State Education Department and the Department of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Buffalo.

St Mark School is known in the region for our high educational standards and outstanding performance. Our school is committed to maintaining the highest quality academics and equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

With that in mind, Saint Mark School has been proactive in embracing The Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS), designed to help prepare students in grades K-12 for college and career success.

Combined with our robust curriculum, the NGLS provide challenging goals that aim to meet the needs of students in the 21st Century. We teach for success throughout life rather than on a single test. Our school is decidedly future-focused, and incorporates both educational technology and interactive learning.

St Mark is passionate about raising up future leaders. As a result, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Education is our major focus. Students begin coding, robotics, keyboarding, hand-on scientific inquiry-based learning, fine and visual arts, and music in Kindergarten, and once they enter Middle School, they are offered additional elective courses to further develop their areas of interest.

Within our school, academic excellence is further enhanced by Catholic values which foster the growth of our students as truthful, generous, and joyful people capable of becoming leaders in the Church and our world.

Our specific curricular goals for each subject are described on the pages that follow. Because the students within our school have diverse needs, the skilled teachers at Saint Mark School tailor their lessons to meet the learning styles of their pupils.

A Resource Room teacher, Librarian, and Instrumental Music Teachers are additional resources available at St. Mark School.
