Students, please use the summer checklist in the detailed handout to ensure that you are on track for starting the new school year off right! Here is the summary of summer reading:

  1. Novel to read Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo and complete the whole packet
  2. In addition, we are asking that each student also read ONE of the following books listed below and complete the "My Character Chart" in the back of the packet:

There are four reading assignments. All details about the associated writing assignment can be found in the detailed handout.

  1. The Crossover, by Kwame Alexander. This book follows the basketball journey of Josh and Jordan Bell. 
  2. The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin. This book is a thrilling murder mystery. Sixteen strangers are gathered together and tasked with solving the mystery of Samuel W. Westing's death in hopes of claiming the title of heir to his fortune. 
  3. Poem: The Highway Man, by Alfred Noyes
  4. A book of your choice
